In addition to being a plant that has been made a hole in the cabinets of our kitchens as a condiment, thyme also has multiple applications as natural medicine. It is very useful for its high anti-inflammatory power for the gums in cases of pyorrhea or gingivitis and contains thymol, an antiseptic widely used to relieve the discomfort caused by canker sores and eliminates the bacteria that cause halitosis.
The infusions of thyme (previously cooled), are useful as a disinfectant and as maintenance of oral hygiene, always accompanied by brushing of teeth and usual gums.
If you are thinking about doing this mouthwash at home, it is very easy: put 50 grams of thyme to boil in water for 10 minutes. You will have a natural remedy for different oral conditions, which you can use whenever you need it.
* The use of thyme extract in pregnant women, breastfeeding women or little children is not recommended.
